Joe Keefe
Originally from Massachusetts I have been working with youth for many years in many capacities. I first became involved with young people in Christian outreach groups and mentoring programs and enjoyed the impact I was able to have with adolescents and teens. I have worked at the Academy at Swift River, a therapeutic boarding school for teens, for about 5 years in which I worked primarily as a wilderness counselor running a base camp and focusing on cognitive-behavioral growth for the students.I currently work as a youth treatment counselor at the Tennyson Center, a therapeutic school for neglected and abused children, and have been there for the last three years. I am in my third year of my masters program at Naropa University studying transpersonal wilderness psychology and will graduate this coming May.
My work over the years has incorporated my love for the outdoors and I often use wilderness as an avenue for growth for my clients. I hold a degree in Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts and am CPR, WFR,TCI, and QMAP certified. I enjoy many hobbies including hiking, yoga, snowboarding, camping, and primitive skills.
